NHS eye tests available
Eye examinations are covered by the NHS in Scotland, which means most of our patients are entitled to a free NHS-funded eye test.
We will always explain what you are entitled to and make sure you receive the care you need without any pressure or confusion. If you are unsure whether you qualify, our friendly team will be happy to talk you through it.
Advanced eye health checks with OCT
We offer OCT (optical coherence tomography) scans as part of an enhanced eye health service. OCT allows us to take a detailed scan of the back of your eye, helping us detect early signs of eye conditions before you may notice any changes to your vision.
The scan is quick, comfortable and gives us a clearer picture of your eye health, providing extra reassurance and peace of mind.

Our optometrist, Chris, is an Independent Prescriber, meaning we can assess, diagnose and treat many eye conditions directly, often without the need for a GP or hospital visit. This allows us to offer trusted emergency eyecare right here in your local community.
OCT (3D Scan)
The introduction of our state-of-the-art OCT Eye Scanner allows our optometrists to detect any signs of eye disease at the earliest possible stage. This 3D scanner allows us to view each individual layer of the retinal tissue, which is impossible for our optometrist to view via the naked eye. Your scan results will bring peace of mind that your eyes have been examined to the best possible level.

What should I expect when visiting for my eye examination?
Your eye examination will include:
- Comprehensive eye history consideration
- Anterior eye and cornea examination
- Eye coordination and muscle balance test
- Peripheral & central vision field evaluation
- Refractive test: longsighted, short sighted or astigmatism
- Slit lamp exam to detect diseases & assess the retina, optic nerve and blood vessels
- Measure eye pressure
- Dilation of the pupils where required
- Retinal Photography or Advanced OCT Scan (3D)
How much will my eye test cost?

How much will my OCT Scan cost?
An OCT Scan is free of charge
How often should I get my eyes tested?
We recommend an eye test every 2-3 years. Under 18’s, we recommend you get an eye test every 6-12 months.
What happens during an OCT Scan?
You will sit in front of the scanner and rest your head on a support. The equipment will then scan your eye (without touching it) and will take no more than 20 seconds per eye.
Will my eye examination hurt?
You shouldn’t feel any pain throughout your eye examination or OCT scan.
